INTRODUCING BEHAVIORAL TOOLS
Behavioral Tools is working to combine wearable sensor technology with behavioral science and gamification to create a streamlined rehabilitation process for patients who have undergone total knee replacement surgery. Our applications combine remote monitoring, objective measurement, and sophisticated feedback algorithms to create a modern approach to knee rehabilitation. The goal is to change the way that rehabilitation from knee surgery or injury in conducted in the near future.

THE PROBLEM

Total Knee Replacement (TKO) patients are performing significantly worse than expected 6 months post-surgery due to improper activation and engagement of the vastus medialis oblique (VMO) and quadricep muscles.

Insurance companies are reducing the number of therapy visits allowed, resulting in increased reliance on patient engagement at home. However, patients do not have the tools to support adherence to exercise protocols at home and, as a result, only ~30% are compliant, resulting in poor outcomes.

Center for Disease Control has released multiple studies showing that we can expect to see a 500% increase in knee surgeries from 2018 to 2030, estimating ~3.5 million knee surgeries per year.

HOW WE'RE SOLVING THE PROBLEM
Behavioral Tools uses a wearable electromyography sensor paired with fun and artificially intelligent games to allow patients to perform rehabilitation exercises on their own, monitor their progress, and recover faster overall.
